Zelma Stone is the music project of San Francisco-based Chloe Zelma Studebaker, who began writing music at age 14 after losing her 19-year-old brother Brett to a tragic car accident. In the years that followed, Studebaker has experienced the passing of her mother, grandfather, and close friend Jenny in the Oakland Ghost Ship fire. Her upcoming Dreamland EP (April 17, 2020) emerged from an outpouring of grief. Channelling her feelings of pain into a healing process of creation, the five-song cycle has a palpable sense of resilience, compassion, and vulnerability in its slowly swaying bedroom pop.

The majority of Dreamland was recorded at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco with producer Maryam Qudus (Tune-Yards, SASAMI), while its title track was crafted with Carly Bond and Rob Shelton of Oakland band Meernaa.

Despite the heavy inspiration behind Dreamland, the path ahead for Studebaker looks bright. The EP showcases growth in her songwriting and the most realized vision of Zelma Stone’s sound to date. Zelma Stone looks to tour throughout 2020 with a follow-up release around the corner.
